Liturgical Ministry

Lectors assists at Mass by proclaiming the Word of the Lord via the prescribed texts found in the Lectionary for a specific day.

Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist assist at daily and Sunday Mass by helping to distribute the Precious Body and Blood of the Lord in Holy Communion, as well as bringing the Eucharist to the home bound and hospitalized.

Hospitality/ushers – a friendly “welcome” always makes others feel at home! Ushers/ministers of hospitality not only welcome one and all to St. Luke’s, but they help find available seating and perform other acts of hospitality so “All are Welcome!”

Sacristans – a very critical ministry! The sacristan assists in setting up for Mass and cleaning up afterwards.

Altar server – assists at the altar at Sunday Mass, on Holy Days of Obligation, and at other major liturgies. Open to young men and women, training and mentoring is available.

Training and ongoing support is offered for all of these ministries. Please contact John Graveline for more information and to volunteer.

Food Pantry

Once a month on the second Thursday of the month from 3 – 5 pm, St. Luke University Parish hosts a Food Pantry. Generous donations of time, talent and treasure help us to serve close to 50 families at each pantry session. Please click to be directed to calendar for dates and times.

Volunteers are needed to go to various food providers and collect their donation, as well as help in sorting and the upkeep of our pantry area.

For more information, contact Karen DeVormer or Sally Kravat through the parish office.

Meals & Wheels Ministry

Need Help: Do you, or someone you know in the parish, need meals while recovering from an illness or surgery, after having a baby, losing a job, or a death, anything else where they could use some meals to help? What about a need for an occasional ride to a doctor appointment, cancer treatments, or therapy? If you need one or both, please contact Kim at the office. We are ready to help you!

Want to Help: Could you prepare an occasional meal for someone who is home-bound or those in need? Then we need you. Make a meal, or depending on the family’s situation and needs, it can be as easy as ordering food to be delivered, a Gift Card to the family’s favorite restaurant, anything to help them through. If you would like to be added to list of helpers, please contact Patti at PatriceEmmmerson@gmail.com or 616-540-2897 to sign up for St. Luke Cooks. She will then send out messages when someone is in need and direct you to the website, she has created on the family’s needs.
